Why this site exists

One format, all 163

Entrance test board, pass mark, catchment and superselective status, laid out identically for every school — so you can actually compare rather than piecing it together from 163 different admissions PDFs.

Sourced, not guessed

Every figure links to where it came from — the school’s own admissions arrangements, DfE records, or an Ofsted report. Where sources disagree, or we simply couldn’t confirm something, we say so rather than picking a plausible-looking number.

No affiliation, no marketing copy

We’re not a school, a tutoring company, or the DfE. Nobody here is trying to sell you a place or a prep course.

boys

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys

Altrincham, Greater Manchester

Shares its published qualifying score exactly with Trafford's reputedly least-selective grammar — but council data shows its real cutoff for out-of-area applicants runs well above that shared floor.

girls

Altrincham Grammar School for Girls

Altrincham, Greater Manchester

Same 334/324 score as Altrincham Boys and Urmston, but its own catchment is a plain 8-mile radius rather than a defined postcode list.

girls

Aylesbury High School

Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

The standard Buckinghamshire 121 threshold, allocated by catchment and distance rather than a strict score-rank — not the county's most selective girls' grammar.

boys

Bournemouth School

Bournemouth, Dorset

One of four schools sharing 'the Consortium' test — genuinely unresolved whether it's superselective, since none of the four publishes a score and BCP has an unusually high overall share of grammar places.

girls

Bournemouth School for Girls

Bournemouth, Dorset

Reserves 100 of its 180 places purely for the highest scorers regardless of catchment — a more open, competitive design than its own Consortium partner Poole Grammar uses.

girls· superselective

Chelmsford County High School for Girls

Chelmsford, Essex

Not part of the CSSE consortium at all — it left to run its own three-part test through a different provider, on a scoring scale that isn't comparable to its neighbours'.

co-ed

Churston Ferrers Grammar School Academy

Brixham, Devon

Fully selective, but not 'highest score wins' — a large share of places go by a 'Social Justice Priority' category ahead of higher-scoring children outside it.

girls

Colchester County High School for Girls

Colchester, Essex

Introduced a 25-mile priority area from September 2025 entry that didn't exist before — and its own 2025 results directly contradict DfE on whether Progress 8 exists for that year at all.

boys· superselective

Colchester Royal Grammar School

Colchester, Essex

Its actual last-place-offered score has run second-highest of Essex's ten selective schools two years running — a direct score comparison, not just reputation.
