Parkstone Grammar School

One of four BCP schools sharing a single test — but its own oversubscription criteria put a Poole postcode ahead of a higher test score for most of its places.

Parkstone has taught girls since around 1905. It's one of four schools — alongside Bournemouth School, Bournemouth School for Girls, and Poole Grammar School — sharing a single GL Assessment test under what all four call 'the Consortium': one sitting, shared results, but each school sets its own criteria against them. Parkstone's own criteria put a defined Poole postcode area, and Pupil Premium status within it, ahead of pure test score for most of its 192 places — pure rank-by-score only decides places among applicants from outside that area, which is why we don't call this superselective despite real oversubscription (roughly 400 applicants for 192 places).

No single restriction on who may apply — any girl reaching the required standard may be considered regardless of address. But once oversubscribed, which the school says happens most years, substantial priority goes to girls living within the historic Borough of Poole or specific postcodes (BH12–BH18, part of BH21). Pupil Premium status ranks above other eligibility within each geographic band.
